Accounts are the core records in SecondTouch. Each account represents one person or organization you want to manage intentionally.
Use a small set of accurate accounts first, then add detail over time as your relationship context becomes clearer.
Overview
An account stores the context that powers follow-up quality and prioritization:
- Who the account is
- What you are currently working on
- What conversation thread is active
- Which date-driven triggers apply
Every account supports ongoing updates. You do not need to complete every field to get value.
Account Types
SecondTouch supports two account types. Choose the type based on the relationship you are managing.
Relationship Accounts
Use Relationship Accounts for ongoing, person-centered relationships where long-term context matters.
- Best for clients, partners, internal stakeholders, and key contacts
- Supports Significant Dates
- Does not use Renewal Date
Transactional Accounts
Use Transactional Accounts for time-bound or contract-driven relationships where renewal timing matters.
- Best for subscriptions, contracts, vendors, and deal-oriented workflows
- Supports Renewal Date
- Does not use Significant Dates
Capabilities
- Create a new account
- Edit account details
- Archive (soft delete) an account
- Review account history and updates
Type-specific behavior is enforced at the field level so each account only shows relevant date fields.
Account Fields
Fields available for all accounts:
- Name
- Notes
- Current Objective (optional)
- Open Thread (optional)
Type-specific date fields:
- Relationship Accounts: Significant Dates only
- Transactional Accounts: Renewal Date only
Important constraint:
- Significant Dates never appear on Transactional Accounts
- Renewal Date never appears on Relationship Accounts
Relationship Context
Relationship context fields help the system understand current status without requiring long notes.
- Current Objective: what you are trying to accomplish with this account right now
- Open Thread: the active topic, question, or next decision currently in motion
Keep these entries short and specific. One sentence per field is usually enough.
